"Contracts (from Pemex linked to corruption) were not carried out"says Sheinbaum

"Contracts (from Pemex linked to corruption) were not carried out"says Sheinbaum

According to the American investigation, between June 2019 and October 2021, during the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Pemex officials would have received luxury and bribes in cash in exchange for favoring some energy companies.

The president said that the Anti -Corruption Secretariat will detail the available information. “The names, what happened, how it happened at the time, the Secretary (Raquel) Buenrostro will report next week so that the entire town of Mexico has the information and know what happened, who were the ones who tried to do the bribe,” he announced.

However, Sheinbaum said that one of them was a candidate of the National Action Party (PAN) and is fugitive. This is Mario Ávila, who was a candidate for the governorship of Campeche by national action.

“You have all the information. People’s information was given, one that is detained and another that is fugitive. The fugitive person worked in Pemex, was a PAN candidate,” he said.

This case occurred in the six -year period of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, when Octavio Romero Oropeza was the general director of Pemex. It was the one who supposedly discovered the crime and ended the contracts, according to Sheinbaum.

“At the time these contracts were suspended,” Romero Oropeza said in front of Romero Oropeza, who participated in the morning conference as current director of the National Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit).

– When was he aware of that illicit he stopped at that time? Asked a reporter.
“Yes,” Sheinbaum replied.
– Shaving Mr. Octavio Romero Director?
-Yeah.
