Industrial employment grows 0.1% in January, points out CNI

A survey by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) released today (8) pointed to an increase in industrial employment indicators and real revenue for companies in January. According to the CNI, with the upward revision of the results of November 2021 and December 2021, employment starts to accumulate a high of 0.5% in the last three months.

The revenue indicator closed January with a rise of 2.8% and accumulated growth of 6.6% between November 2021 and January 2022.

The CNI points out, however, that the indicator remains below that recorded in the entire first half of 2021 and 5.2% below that recorded in January 2021.

In January, the wage bill grew by 4.2%, closing the third consecutive month with an accumulated increase of 5.7%. Hours worked in production, on the other hand, remained practically stable from December 2021 to January 2022, recording a decrease of 0.1% in the seasonally adjusted series.

“Nevertheless, Installed Capacity Utilization (UCI) has completed seven consecutive months of decline. After reaching 82.3% in June 2021, the UCI showed a decline throughout the second half of 2021 and continued to decline in the first month of 2022.
