Just three days away: President (e) Gabriel Boric's schedule for the change of command

Just three days before the change of command, where Gabriel Boric will take over as President of the Republic, replacing Sebastián Piñera this Friday, March 11, the main activities that the future president will carry out the day before the ceremony are already known, as well like the day of the change of command.

Bilateral meetings with various Heads of State, a meeting with neighborhood leaders are some of the activities that the former deputy will carry out from Thursday at 09:00 a.m., when he will have a meeting with the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader.

This is established by the schedule of the instance, which will begin this Thursday in the Municipality of Santiago, where the President-elect plans to hold 16 appointments with presidents, vice presidents and other representatives of the countries attending the ceremony.

On the same day, he will meet with the Vice President of Brazil, Hamilton Mourao; with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar; with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Kiyoshi Odawara; with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Haiti, Ariel Henry; with the President of the Moroccan Chamber of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami; with the Minister of Tourism and Archeology of Palestine, Rula Maayah and with the Vice President of the Republic of Honduras, Salvador Nasralla Salum.

He will also talk with the Prime Minister of Guyana, Mark Phillips, with the President of Peru, Pedro Castillo; with the King of Spain, Felipe VI, with the president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso and with the president of Paraguay, Mario Abdo.

Gabriel Boric’s last meeting will be with Isabella Casillas, representative of the United States at 4:20 p.m. Despite the fact that initially, the future Head of State assured, after a conversation with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, that “they were going to try to get Vice President Kamala Harris to come”, which ultimately will not happen.

As for the day of the change of command, on Friday, March 11, the activities will begin at 08:30 a.m., with the participation of Gabriel Boric in a citizen breakfast at the Presidential Palace of Cerro Castillo, along with neighborhood leaders from Viña del Sea.

Two hours later, the President-elect will prepare for the ceremony, where he will be officially photographed as Head of State with his Cabinet. After this, the departure of the ministers to the National Congress will begin.

At 12:20 p.m., the appointment of the new Undersecretaries of State is scheduled to take place, so the departure of the authorities from the National Congress will be at 1:00 p.m. Later, Gabriel Boric will return to Cerro Castillo, to receive the honors of the Presidential Police Guard, in order to receive the Heads of State invited to the ceremony.

at 6:00 p.m., already as President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric will return to the Palacio de la Moneda, will receive the honors of the Palace Guard in the Patio de los Cañones and at 7:00 p.m., he will give his first speech to the country as Head of State from the balcony of the second floor of the Palace.
