Ceci Flores herself related in her official accounts: “Today we found a skull, in the middle of nowhere, looking towards the sun as if they were waiting for dawn. The rest of the body must be out there, somewhere in the desert, but we fail to find it. We are going with a terrible feeling of not being able to take it home.”
The seekers explained that the skull was partially exposed, so they believe that the rest of the human remains could be found in the immediate vicinity. However, due to the conditions of the land and the time, it was not possible to continue the search.
In the next few days, the Sonora Prosecutor’s Office must carry out the corresponding forensic analyzes to determine whether the remains found or not correspond to the activist’s son, who has headed multiple search days in various regions of the country.
Who is the activist?
Ceci Patricia Flores Armenta is a Mexican activist and founder of the Mothers Relevant Mothers of Sonora, created in 2019 after the disappearance of their children Marco Antonio and Jesús Adrián in Bahía de Kino, and Alejandro Guadalupe in 2015, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
Since then, he heads tracking days in different areas of the country to locate missing, living or dead people, and has brought together more than 900 members in the state. His work has exposed it to threats and risk episodes, including a disappearance report in 2023 while performing a search in Sinaloa.
Despite violence and lack of official support, Flores continues with the work of the group, which has located numerous human remains in areas of conflict and criminal violence.
