As of August 15, the National Assembly (AN) enters parliamentary recess after completing the first period of ordinary sessions of the year, in accordance with article 219 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
During this period, which will run until September 15, the delegated commission is activated to guarantee legislative continuity.
This special organ is made up of the Directive of the ANthe presidents and vice presidents of the permanent commissions, as well as the heads of parliamentary fractions. Its installation will be convened by the Presidency of the Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of article 195 of the Magna Carta and article 53 of the Internal Regulations and Debates (Ridan).
The delegated commission is declared twice a year: from August 15 to September 15, and again from December 15 to January 5, when the new legislative period begins.
It should be noted that in May 2025, parliamentary elections were held to elect 285 deputies, including representatives of the Territory of the Guayana Esequiba. Elected legislators will assume functions on January 5, 2026, marking the beginning of a new legislative stage that will run until January 5, 2031.
