President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo rejected that the United States government has requested the “transfer” of 26 members of organized crime groups. It was, he said, a sovereign decision that has to do with the security of Mexico.
In yesterday’s morning, he also stressed that this sending of criminals – the second in less than six months – is not related to the bilateral security agreement.
To the question about what is the case to continue delivering to Wa-Shington to criminals with whom sometimes the US authorities negotiate liberties or other benefits in exchange for information, and despite this, the pounding to Mexico follows the issue of drug trafficking, the president replied: “In all these cases, it is not in the extradition or sending of these members of organized crime, the decision is for the security of our country; Sovereign, they have nothing to do with a request (of the Trump administration), although many of them have demands (extradition), but there are many others that continue to have requests. ”
Even when the delivery of these 26 criminals, both the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Citizen Security and Citizen Protection indicated that the action was carried out “in attachment to our Constitution and the National Security Law, and under the request of the United States Department of Justice”, the head of the Executive insisted that there was no request for the White House.
“The decision made by the National Security Council has to do with the security of the country, they are sovereign decisions,” he emphasized.
Without delving into details – he said that the security cabinet would give all the information later – Sheinbaum pointed out that the delivery to Washington of these people linked to drug trafficking “does not have to do with the security agreement. They are sovereign decisions that are taken in Mexico for the security of our country, and take the National Security Council from an analysis of the national intelligence and research system.”
