Reflections, conversations, photographic exhibitions, data on gender inequality, are just some of the activities that the Senate will carry out starting today, March 8 – the day on which the “International Women’s Day”– and that will last throughout the month.
under the slogan “Change the look. We all win”the Corporation makes an invitation to reflect and rethink the female role, away from all kinds of bias, in order to advance towards gender equality.
Through the initiatives, the Corporation advances in recognizing the struggle of women for their rights and whose milestone is March 8, 1857, the date on which the first large public demonstration of women workers in the textile area of New York and that cost the lives of 129 women, who asked for better working conditions.
Activities for the 8M
Today the photographic exhibition will be inaugurated “The first”, which through images will highlight the parliamentarians who opened an important political path in the Upper House, from María de la Cruz Toledo (1953), the first female senator of the Republic of Chile, to those whose term ended before 2020.
In addition, this morning, through TV Senado the program “Change the look. We all win.” instance that invites reflection on three important areas: Women and Politics; Women and Education; and Women and Work, blocks that will feature outstanding and interesting guests.
The senators will also be an active part of the programmatic grid, through their reflections and invitations to continue on the path of gender parity.
Social Networks will not be left out and through institutional Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, periodically you will find different graphs with interesting data on gender inequality, perfect information to generate constructive debate.
