After having the revoked visa By the United States Government due to its connection with Mais Médicos, the Secretary of Specialized Health Care of the Ministry of Health, Mozart Sales, defended the program on Thursday, citing positive impacts and significant improvement on population health.
In his Instagram profile, the doctor classified the program as “primordial initiative” to ensure service to millions of Brazilians. He recalled that, at the time of the creation of Mais Médicos, the Brazilian government resorted to the possibility of cooperation with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), leading to hiring Cuban professionals.
“Cuban doctors already provided this service in 58 other countries of different political-ideological guidelines, through international cooperation mechanisms. Thanks to this initiative, the presence of Brazilian, Cuban professionals and other nationalities offered primary health care and fraternal hands and those who needed the most. Diminated pain, suffering and deaths,” wrote Mozart.
In the post, the secretary also cited an approval, early in the program, of 87%, according to data from Datafolha released in 2013. “Numerous scientific publications prove the positive impacts and the significant improvement on the health of the population,” he wrote.
“This unfair sanction does not take my certainty that more doctors is a program that defends life and represents the essence of the SUS [Sistema Único de Saúde]the largest public health system in the world – universal, integral and free, ”concluded Mozart.

The justification of Donald Trump’s government is that they acted in the implementation of Mais Médicos while working at the Ministry of Health and that they are accomplices “for the forced labor of the Cuban government”.
The visas of Mozart and the former advisor of International Relations of the Ministry of Health and current general coordinator for COP30, Alberto Kleiman.
After the sanction, the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilhadefended the program that, according to him, “will survive the unjustifiable attacks of anyone.”
“The Saves Saves Program and is approved by those who matter most: the Brazilian population. We will not bend to those who pursue vaccines, researchers, science and now two of the fundamental people for more doctors in my first management as Health Minister, Mozart Sales and Alberto Kleiman,” he said in social networks.
