The prosecutor of the nation, Delia Espinozahe designated Patricia Benavides As head of the Second Supreme Criminal Prosecutor’s Office, after the Board of Supreme Prosecutors (JFS) rejected its proposal to derive it to the National Jury of Elections (Jne).
The allocation of this office to Benavides Vargas implied an internal rearrangement in the Public Ministry, since the position had been occupied by the former Nation of the Nation, Zoraida Ávalos, who will be responsible for the Second Supreme Prosecutor’s Office specialized in crimes of public officials.
This reorganization also meant that the provisional supreme prosecutor Alcides Chinchay, who was investigating the “Chibolin case”, be reallocated to another fiscal office. At the moment it is not known what your new office will be.
The resolution signed by Espinoza realizes that the proposal to send to Benavides to exercise the representation of the Prosecutor’s Office in the JNE was made because the former public prosecutor is directly linked to nine investigations and indirectly in three other investigations in charge of the first and second Supreme Prosecutor’s Office specialized in crimes of public officials for crimes ranging from the criminal organization to the traffic of influences.
In the document, the head of the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that this information evidenced “a conflict of interests that supports the impartiality, objectivity and transparency of the exercise of the function.” But he did not obtain the support of any of the other five members of the JFS because the law prevents the officials of this electoral agency in full election.
“Considering the peculiar situation of the exposed case, it is appropriate to designate lawyer Liz Patricia Benavides Vargas in the Second Supreme Criminal Prosecutor’s Office,” says the resolution of the Public Ministry.
