A train derailed 10 kilometers from the city of Olavarría

The assistance of the 479 people who were traveling is being carried out by personnel from Trenes Argentinos

A train that connects the Plaza Constitución station with the city of Bahía Blanca derailed 10 kilometers south of the Buenos Aires town of Olavarría and caused injuries to at least 20 people, none seriously, spokespersons for the state-owned company Trenes Argentinos and Firefighters reported.

An official statement from the company had initially reported only one injured with a bruise from a blow to the head, but Julio Colma, head of the Olavarría Fire Department, indicated on the TN channel that at least 20 people were referred to the local hospital with minor injuries.

The derailment occurred at 5.20 for reasons that are still unknown in the laying of tracks operated by the cargo company FerroExpreso Pampeano.

The assistance of the 479 people who were traveling is being carried out by personnel from Trenes Argentinos in conjunction with the police and firefighters.

The process of re-railing and restoring the normal conditions of the roads could take a few hours, so it is likely that some services that circulate through this corridor will be cancelled.
