The defense of General Walter Braga Netto asked on Wednesday (13) to the Supreme Court (STF) the acquittal and rejection of the complaint of the coup plot. Braga Netto is one of the defendants of the crucial core of the attempted coup d’état in the Jair Bolsonaro government.
Reserve general and vice in the Bolsonaro plate in 2022, the military has been in prison since December last year on charges of obstructing the investigation into the attempted coup to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
In the demonstration sent to the Supreme, The general’s lawyers claim that there is no evidence that the military has delivered money to finance scammer acts.
In one of the award -winning statements, The former Bolsonaro orders, Mauro Cid, said Braga Neto handed him money in a wine bag to finance the scamming plan’s actions.
“This fragile narrative is sustained only in the Word of the whistleblower who, after ten testimonials given as a court collaborator, and after more than a year of signed the agreement, brought the information of the alleged delivery of money as if a simple detail were,” the defense maintains.
The lawyers also denied that the general coordinated virtual attacks on former armed commanders to press them to join the coup plot.
“The accusation that General Braga Netto coordinated virtual attacks to press the high command of the army deserves to be vehemently removed because it is based on unlawful evidence,” the defense added.
The lawyers’ demonstration is in the final allegations that were sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case. The 15 -day deadline for lawyers to protocol their demonstrations end today at 11:59 pm.
