Loreto: prosecution began research against Colombians who carried out alleged topography works in Santa Rosa

The Criminal Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Mariscal Ramón Castilla has initiated a preliminary investigation against Colombian citizens Carlos Sánchez and John Amia, who were arrested last Tuesday, while doing alleged work of topography in the port of the district of Santa Rosa de Loreto, located in the Loreta province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla.

Through its official account in X, the Public Ministry informed that foreign citizens will be investigated – acquired to carry out satellite and topographic measurement work without the proper authorization – for the alleged crime of attack against national sovereignty, under the modality of acts aimed at subjecting the Republic to foreign domination.

According to the first proceedings of the provincial deputy prosecutor Rodolfo Sifuentes Vargas, individuals would have tried to establish the area as part of the Colombian territory.

Among the proceedings carried out, the police inspection are included in the place of the facts, the taking of statements of both the investigated and the agents who participated in their speech, as well as the collection of audiovisual material recorded by those involved, among other actions.

Likewise, the Superintendence of Migration was notified in order to verify whether the entry of foreign citizens to the Peruvian territory was carried out legally or irregularly.

Two Colombian citizens in Santa Rosa are still arrested for suspicious activities

Two Colombian citizens who did topography work in the port of Santa Rosa continue to be arrested at the local police station after being intervened on Tuesday by the National Police, after fishermen alerted about their presence in the triple border between Peru, Colombia and Brazil.

Carlos Fernando Sánchez and Yhon Amia carried a satellite GPS and moved on a yacht, both seized by the police and put in custody of the Navy of Peru.

The topographs expect the arrival of the prosecutor from Cabalococha and still do not have a defense lawyer, so the authorities evaluate to designate a particular or ex officio. Meanwhile, the Army and the Navy maintain security and patrol operations on land and river to guarantee control in the area.

At the same time, Cofopri advances with the title of properties in Santa Rosa, formalizing about 80 % of homes without documents. These efforts coincide with the preparations for the visit of President Dina Boluarte, which could include a decentralized session of the Council of Ministers, increasing logistics and operational activity in the district.
