Prosecutor investigates foreign topographs for alleged attack on sovereignty in Santa Rosa

The Criminal Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Mariscal Ramón Castilla opened a preliminary investigation against foreign citizens Carlos Sánchez and John Amia, as well as against those responsible, for the alleged crime of attack against national sovereignty.

According to the provincial deputy prosecutor Rodolfo Sifuentes Vargas, those involved would have carried out topographic studies in the southern part of Santa Rosa Island, in Loreto.

The topographs were arrested and transferred to the Santa Rosa police station for allegedly trying to determine the location of the Peruvian territory as part of the Colombian territory. Research seeks to clarify the reasons and scope of its activities in the area.

Among the ordered proceedings are the Police Technical Inspection of the place, the registration of videos of those involved and the troops who made the arrest, as well as the collection of their statements. In addition, information was requested from the Superintendence of Migration on its entry to the country.
