Some products will enter Colombia without paying taxes after the issuance of a decree by the National Government, which eliminates tariffs on 165 products, which today have high prices.

The measure is in effect from March 4, temporarily, for six months.

Among the products for which the measure will be applied are: oat grains, toast, toilet paper, threads and other fabrics.

Decree 307 that was issued on March 3, eliminates the tariff of 165 products that had 5%, 10% and 15% in the collection of taxes to enter the country.

“This reduction in tariffs is late and I think that the effects on inflation are going to be quite limited because there are other things that are having a greater impact on current inflation,” warn experts.

They also warn because “we have other factors such as the crisis between Russia and Ukraine,” said Guillermo Sinisterra, an economist at the Javeriana University.

There are those who disagree with this decision, claiming that a reduction in the cost of food has not yet been made.
