Machado urges democratic nations to join in defense of Venezuela’s freedom

Machado: In Venezuela, political prisoners are treated as prisoners of war

Machado points out that Venezuelans assume the responsibility “at the head of the liberation and reconstruction” of Venezuela and express their confidence in the support of “the true democrats of the world”

María Corina Machado urges the democratic nations of the world to join in the defense of Venezuela’s freedom.

Through a letter entitled “Venezuela will be free”, published in its account in X this August 12, Machado asks countries to apply “the entire weight of the international law” to “dismantle the criminal structure” that has caused suffering to Venezuelans and destabilization in the region.

He points out that Venezuelans assume the responsibility “in front of the liberation and reconstruction” of Venezuela and expresses their confidence in the support of “the true democrats of the world.”

On the other hand, Machado reiterates his thanks to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and his administration for “his decisive actions to dismantle this terrorist criminal company,” says the statement.

“Its unwavering commitment to justice and freedom further strengthens the determination of millions of Venezuelans who are determined to enforce the electoral mandate of July 28, 2024, to restore democracy and to gather our families.”

This Tuesday, the Undersecretary of State of the United States, Christopher Landau, says that Washington prepares new “pressure actions” against Nicolás Maduro for the coming weeks and emphasized that the political change must be promoted by the Venezuelan citizens themselves, stating that “the Venezuelan people have to rise and claim their freedom.”
