At 00:05 hours on August 11, flights resumed on AICM tracks, however, there are still chaos in the facilities.
The operations were suspended by the reports of little visibility and the flooding generated by the rain.
The AICM pointed out that in order not to compromise operational safety, by disposition of the aeronautical authority, landing and takeoff operations were suspended for about 4 hours in order to carry out the eviction work of the waters left by the torrential rain, which allowed to recover the operational capacity.
” The intensity of the atypical storm caused that various areas of the terminal buildings would also be affected, collapsing the rain drainage system, despite the fact that some spaces had completed maintenance work in 2024 and early this year ”.
Authorities said that to address the flooding, both in the aeronautical zone, as in the buildings and roads of the airport perimeter, emptor and motobombs equipment were put into operation, in order to ensure optimal conditions on the tracks, shootings and platforms, which would allow the resumption of air operations.
Airline personnel have requested passengers to seek in the official pages the status of their respective flights.
