Sixty agents of Chilca’s serenazgo will be equipped for the first time with non -lethal weapons (tonfa rods, shackles and pepper gas) as part of a municipal plan to face crime. The measure will be accompanied by an intensive training cycle by the National Police, which will include physical, psychological training and in the correct use of this armament.

The sessions will take place within 10 days and are part of the implementation of the Municipal Serenazgo Law. According to the Head of the Unit, Eden Melgarejo Matienzo, only the psychologically and physically suitable personnel will receive the tools, with the aim of avoiding abuse and guaranteeing responsible use.
In a second stage, the commune plans to provide the serene of electroshock guns and bulletproof vests, prior coordination with the District Citizen Security Committee (CODISEC).
