The public defender who was imposed on the defender of Human Rights Martha Grajales reiterated her husband, Antonio González, who is accused of three crimes: Association to commit crimes, conspiracy with foreign government and incitement to hate. They ask for guarantees, communication and know their physical status after incommunicado days
The Human Rights’ husband Martha Lía Grajales, Antonio González, reported that she is held at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) of Maripérez, after having been under forced disappearance since last Friday, August 8, the day she was arrested in the vicinity of the UN Office.
González, also a human rights defender and a member of the emerging collective, explained that he went four opportunities to that police headquarters to learn about his wife’s whereabouts and that information was denied in all of them. He was able to know his location, after meeting with the public defender who was imposed on Grajales this Monday, August 11.
The public defender reiterated to Antonio González that Martha Grajales was arrested for being accused of three crimes: association to commit crimes, conspiracy with foreign government and incitement to hatred. Her husband also said that she was presented by Telematics on Monday and “had no chance of appointing her trusted lawyer, although she requested it.”

The activist condemned that three days have passed since the arrest of Martha Grajales and could not communicate with her; Therefore, it demanded that the authorities allow immediate communication, procedural guarantees and know their physical integrity. “It is a usual practice of the Venezuelan State to keep the detainees incommunicado after their arrest”he said.
Martha Lía Grajales is a spokeswoman for the emergent collective and was arrested by members of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) east of Caracas, after participating in an activity in support of mothers of poslectory political prisoners who were attacked in front of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
The defender, who was forced to board a truck without plates, was one of the more than 50 women assaulted by the groups last Tuesday in the vigil against the TSJ, where the review of files and the release of post -electoral political prisoners were required.
Hundreds of human rights defenders worldwide, as well as the United Nations High Commissioner, Volker Türk, have demanded the freedom of this human rights defender.
