In the annual distribution of commissions, Congress again demonstrates its ability to put the fox to take care of the chicken coop. The profiles of who would be the new presidents are full of complaints, questions and obvious conflicts of interest that would blush anyone, except them. Thus, control and transparency remain, again, in the hands of their worst enemies.
For example, this Monday at 4 pm the installation session of the Housing Commission will be held and there, first of all, Congresswoman María Acuña Peralta, of Alliance for Progress (APP), will be present to assume the driving of the group. The same legislator who has been denounced for invading two public spaces, one in Surco (Lima) and another in Chiclayo, will be the highest authority of the Commission that debates precisely legislative initiatives on housing formalization, among others.
Two weeks ago, Peru21 revealed that Acuña presented in February 2023 a project to clean up the areas of property of the State that have been invaded by natural or legal persons.
An hour later, the Transportation Commission will be installed, which would be headed by Juan Carlos Mori Celis, of Popular Action, who is involved in the sound case of children, for which the Prosecutor’s Office investigates a group of parliamentarians who would allegedly have received benefits in exchange for votes in favor of the Government of Pedro Castillo.
On Tuesday, other commissions will be installed. In Education, there will be Flavio Cruz, Second Montalvo or Janet Rivas, all from Peru Libre. The pencil bench has had an unusual attention to this group, because – he could verify Peru21– Since the beginning of the current Parliament he has presented 584 initiatives derived there, many of them declarative in order to create universities and institutes to the right and sinister.
Meanwhile, energy and mines will be the only commission that presides over the bench of Together by Peru – Voices of the People – Magisterial Block, and inside Roberto Sánchez is voiced as the one who will direct it.
Sánchez, former Minister of Pedro Castillo and ally of Antauro Humala in the face of the 2026 elections, presented in November 2024 a bill to expand the reim and has been shown in favor of the demands of illegal and informal miners.
In control, commission that is responsible for controlling the use of public resources and combating corruption, the president would be Elvis Vergara or Raúl Doroteo, both of popular action and also interferent in the fiscal investigation of the case of corruption the children.
As if that were not enough, the Foreign Relations Commission would be chaired by worthy street, of Podemos, who in September 2023 declared: “I no longer want to belong to this Congress of the Republic”, defending the bill that allowed legislators to resign from their position.

When he took the command of Congress, he had 55 open folders in the Prosecutor’s Office for the alleged crimes of illicit enrichment, scam, abuse of authority, usurpation of functions, among others.
In August 2023, Fourth Power denounced that Soto cut his workers’ salary to use money to pay for advertising in social networks, in the case called Trolls Factory.
We can also mention the Women’s Commission, which would be directed by Congresswoman and Evangelical Pastora Milagros Jáuregui, who in 2023 presented a bill so that Christian evangelical churches manage public schools nationwide.
The Health Commission would be chaired by Magaly Ruiz, accused of being ‘Mochasuelado’, and the defense would have Karol Paredes, recently denounced by the Prosecutor’s Office for the alleged commission of the crime of criminal organization and influence peddling in the case of children.
All of them will be in charge of directing the most important commissions in this pre -election year in which, in addition to presidential and parliamentary elections, there will be regional and municipal elections nationwide. Are we in good hands? It seems that we better prepare for a new period in which the main agenda will be the own interest.
