Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT), Dr. Franklin García Fermín, headed this Sunday a “Health walk” in the National Botanical Garden, within the framework of the 47th anniversary of the creation of the institution. The day was attended by hundreds of employees of the Ministry and the collaboration of the Cruz Jiminián Foundationwhich provided a team of ten specialist doctors.
Encouraging well -being and sport
Prior to the start of the walk, Minister García Fermín stressed the importance of sport as a fundamental pillar to maintain the health and well -being of the Dominican population.
“We do it in the best way: walking, exercising, because to maintain and achieve health you have to arrange for it,” affirmed. “It is said that sport is mental health, but it is also physical health.”
The walk, with a 5 -kilometer route, was coordinated by the Vice Minister of Extension of Mescyt, Carmen Molina, and supervised by the Yocasta Encarnación athlete.
Recognition of collaboration
The president of the Cruz Jiminián Foundation, Dr. Félix Antonio Cruz Jiminián, highlighted the Mescyt initiative and thanked the support of the Ministry, which allows doctors trained with their support to perform at the Cruz Jiminián Clinic.

“Those doctors, to the surprise of the world, wherever they go they are very well stopped and proudly represent the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology,” Cruz Jiminián said.

The activity was attended, together with the Ministry’s employees, officials such as Vice Minister Carmen Molina; the chief of Cabinet, Juan F. Medina; the director of Human Resources, Josué Francisco; the administrative director, Rafael Méndez; the Director of Communications, Julián Sosa, and other coordinators and in charge of areas.
