Less than a month subtracts for the start of the 64 National Baseball Series, an event for which fans have been waiting for more than a year, after, exactly on July 28, 2024, the curtains of the 63rd edition of the domestic classic of the balls and the strikes with the title of the Tunas were lowered.
Since then several months passed without clarity about when the Elite League, the Sub-23 series and the national series itself would be located in calendar. Already celebrated the first two events, finally the most important baseball tournament on the island will begin on September 2 at Julio Antonio Mella Park.
The fief of the libators will host the inaugural duel of the LID, of which the calendar of private clashes is not yet known. However, Carlos Martín, director of the event, confirmed in a recent work visit to Matanzas that the competition will take place until the end of January 2026 and the champion of the same will guarantee his position in the Baseball Champions League Americas, agreed for April.
The contest will consist of 75 games in its regular phase, from which the eight classified to the postseason will emerge. This instance will begin on December 20 with the quarterfinals, while semifinal and final will take place after the end of the year break.
As a particularity, this time there will be no reserved space to recover suspended games at the end of the calendar, something that had already made us common in most baseball tournaments on the island. Now, clashes that cannot be celebrated will have to recover throughout the event.
This will surely mean an increase in the double billboards and will leave very latent the possibility that several teams cannot complete their 75 games route. According to Carlos Martín, this structure does not even contemplate recovery matches for squads that are playing the postseason classification.
