The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, informed that in the Zulia state the citizen José Montiel was charged with the crime of computer espionage.
Through the account in the Instagram social network of the Public Ministry (MP), SAAB explained that “said subject was dedicated to filming in the facilities of the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of the aforementioned State, with the aim of intimidating the officials and violating the privacy of our institution”, so that its imputation was proceeded.
In accordance with article 11 of the Special Law against Computer Crimes, who “unduly obtained, reveals or disseminates the data or information contained in a system that uses information technologies or in any of its components, will be punished with imprisonment of three to six years and a fine of three hundred to six hundred tax units.
The penalty will be increased from one third to half, if the crime provided for in this article is committed in order to obtain some type of benefit for itself or another.
The increase will be half to two thirds, if the security of the State is in danger, the reliability of the operation of the affected institutions or some damage will result for natural or legal persons, as a consequence of the revelation of the information of a reserved nature ».
