This Tuesday, March 8, the Council of Ministers will appear before the Congress of the Republic to request a vote of confidence. Despite the fact that several of the benches have expressed their dissatisfaction with the permanence of some portfolio holders and have conditioned their vote on their removal, President Pedro Castillo and Prime Minister Aníbal Torres have not removed them.
The political scientist Marylia Cruz and the political analyst Alejandro Mejía told La República that those who will define the result of the vote of confidence will be the bench of People’s Action and of Alliance for Progress.
“Basically, who is going to define (the vote of confidence) is Popular Action and as far as we know now there is a group of them that is linked to these tenders that are managed in the MTC. We have to wait a bit to be able to see exactly which are the political operators that favor this line of negotiation that is being carried out in this Ministry,” said Marylia Cruz.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Mejía commented: “We must bear in mind that tomorrow (Tuesday 8) it is precisely these congressmen, we are going to call them the wild card parties, which are adapting according to the circumstances, such as Acción Popular and Alianza por Progress, which in some way defines itself”.
In turn, Cruz considered that the questioning of the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, and the recently appointed Minister of Transportation, Nicolás Bustamante, are valid due to their background, and the fact that Castillo and Torres have kept them in office generates a friction with Parliament.
“Insist a little that that minister (Hernán Condori) remain in office despite the questioning that the dean of the College of Physicians also formulates it is a bit exhausting in some way the possibility that there may be an attempt at conversation”, he told La República.

To its turn, Mejia He pointed out that if Parliament decides to deny confidence to the ministerial cabinet, it would not be beneficial for them, but on the other hand, the Executive must also vindicate itself.
“I definitely believe that in a scenario where both the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch, both have a very high rate of disapproval, actually, both have to lose.”, he pointed out to this medium.
The Executive does not listen to criticism
In addition, the political scientist stated that the president and the prime minister “are not listening to the criticism that is based on certain evidence and from different social sectors,” which could cause them to be left without support.
