Homicides in Peru exceed 4900 cases during the Government of Dina Boluarte, according to Sinasec

According to figures from the National System of Citizen Security Information (SINASEC), published by El Comercio, since the beginning of the current government, 4968 homicides have been registered. Only between January and what goes from 2025, the cases total 1302, which represents an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period of 2024.

The citizen security specialist Arturo Huaytalla Quispe warned that homicides maintain a sustained upward trend and recalled that between 2000 and 2024 the annual figure almost tripled.

“We should not get used to these homicides being only numbers. You have to act before the problem is more difficult to reverse.”he emphasized.

Among the last governments, that of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski registered 837 homicides, while in the administration of Martín Vizcarra the figure rose to 2740. The short period of Manuel Merino accounted for 16 cases, and with Francisco Sagasti the numbers increased again. Under the mandate of Pedro Castillo, 2090 homicides were reported, and in the current government of Dina Boluarte the total already approaches 5000.
