Miami, United States. – The Captaincy of the Port of Santiago de Cuba reported on the discovery of a Zodiac type vessel with an outboard motor, found on June 7 in the area in front of the populated town, in the Guama municipality, province of Santiago de Cuba.

According to The official note Published in El Diario Granma and signed by the Interior Ministry (Minint), the boat is white and red, with rubber and plastic helmet. Its dimensions are: 2.40 meter length, 1.40 meter manga and apral of 0.40 meters. It has an outboard Mercury brand engine, 6.0 horsepower (HP), with serial number 02134266. In addition, it presents a badge written in the bass of the port band: “Axe-F82731”.

The notice was issued in accordance with the provisions of article 214, subsection C, of the Decree No. 317, Regulation of Law No. 115 “of maritime, river and lake navigation” of Cuba.

By virtue of these regulations, natural or legal persons with rights to the boat to be presented before the captaincy of the port of Santiago de Cuba were convened, within a maximum period of 30 calendar days from the publication of the note, with the documentation that legally accredits the property or possession of the good.

This finding adds to a series of similar discoveries reported by the Ports Captaincy in different provinces of the country in recent months. On April 25, the Captaincy of the Port of Cárdenas, in Matanzas, reported On two abandoned vessels: a located in December 2024 on the ship channel, with the manuscript name “Dabid Diehel” and an American telephone number, and another found in January 2025 near the Hotel Sireny Tropic, without visible identifying marks, but with an out -of -board engine Yamaha.

Similarly, in May, the minint communicated The confiscation of two more vessels in the province of Camagüey. One of them, an unnamed aquatic motorcycle found in Nuevitas, was labeled with the FL3058TC number, while the other, a white boat with 60 HP engine, was found in Esmeralda.

In all cases, the maritime authorities have recalled that the unexpected goods within the established period can be confiscated by the State, in accordance with the provisions of the Resolution No. 1/2015 of the minint. This regulation allows abandoned or without identified owner vessels to become part of state assets.

Although to date none of the vessels found has been officially linked to illegal activities such as traffic of people or drugs, the repeated pattern of these findings – including inflatable boats, fiberglass boats and aquatic motorcycles, all with high -power engines – reinforces the perception of a persistent irregular maritime activity around the Cuban archipelago.

The authorities’ reports do not refer to the immediate destination of the boats found, but recent background indicates that, not appearing claimants within the legal period, naval media are usually retained by the State.
