THE Dramatized reading presentation of the trickster opera, the composer, singer and writer, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, directed by Paulo Guidelly, promises to move Vidigal, in the south of Rio, this weekend. The activity is part of the dramatized reading show, promoted by the We Do Morro Group, the theater school that develops artistic activities in the community. We do Morro Project takes theatrical readings to the Vidigal community

THE Staging of one of the school classes at Casarão do Nós do Morro, Rua Doctor Olinto de Magalhães, 54, on Saturday (9) and Sunday (10), at 10am, has free admission, but you need to take the ticket an hour before the show.

Before this montage, the public was able to attend the presentations of other classes with The Little Prince Blackby Rodrigo França, The Revolution in South Americaby Augusto Boal, and Today is Rock Dayby João Vicente, directed, respectively, by Paula Almeida, Fernando Melvin and Fatima Domingues.

Paulo Guidelly said that before this programming, the group’s stagings were carried out through collective creation of teachers and students with themes that spoke of black narratives, LGBTQIA+ and peripheral issues. According to the director, as it is a theater school, the board missed a deepening in the classic pieces, especially Brazilians, in the new generation that is entering the performance.

“Many people who want to be actors today are unaware of classic texts by theatrical playwrights such as Shakespeare or Greek authors. We felt this lag on new actors and decided to work with each class the classic texts or Brazilian authors,” said Paulo Guidelly, in an interview with Brazil agencywhich for a while I wanted to work with a text by Chico Buarque.

The theatrical director explained that in the presentations of dramatized readings, there is already a language of the staging that will be presented by the end of the year.

“The dramatized reading is a first cycle of the practice of assembly that we will develop at the end of the year, in November. We will make the same pieces, but with the act in fact. That’s why we developed this reading as if it were a pre scene. There are movements on stage, we work with lighting, with part of the scenario.

Paulo Guidelly entered as a student of Morro nodes in 2013, became a group actor and two years ago is a multiplier, a term that usually calls the teachers. “It is my social counterpart, because Morro’s knots were fundamental to me,” he added, revealing that during this period with the support of the group also graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State (Unirio), in Urca, south of Rio.

For the artist, the work done by the Morro knots since its inception have resulted in the formation of public.

“The reception of all this local audience is very cool, but we also have an asphalt crowd that goes to us from the hill to watch. It is very democratic and everyone can enjoy in a very cool way all the works presented there in the big house,” he noted,

Morro

In almost 40 years, since it was created in 1996, many stories have told the trajectory of the Morro Nos group. Stories that mix with children and young people who had a chance to develop artistic skills in Non -profit cultural association of the Vidigal community, south of Rio, and today stand out in the Brazilian scenario, such as successful actors and actresses Thiago Martins, Babu Santana, Mary Sheila, Roberta Rodrigues, Sheron Menezzes, Marcello Melo Jr, Douglas Silva, Jonathan Azevedo, Roberta Santiago, Micael Borges, among others.

Paulo Guidelly said that the formation of actors that originates in Vidigal represents pride for the community.

“We on the hill and all the people who entered and entered the market became a reference. In addition to being proud of the people who have left or are still there, people also see but a possibility not only to be actors, but of transformation of their lives. That it is possible to dream, grow, develop and do what they like and love.”

Remembering Cecilia Meireles, Guti Fraga actor, director, castor and journalist preparer, who together with Luiz Paulo Correia and Castro, is one of the founders of the group, said the writer’s phrase “Life is only reinvented”, to explain the work that the group has been developing since 1996, when it moved to the community. The identification with Vidigal came before, during the period when he was a journalist. “I already had a strong relationship with Vidigal. I had the newspaper Mural. I went to the house of a friend up there, when the hill was all wood at that time. We went over the slab with a typing machine and I did the newspaper Ali with carbon and preached in various places of the community,”, told in an interview with Agência Brasil, revealing that he was no longer a journalist after suffering an aggression from a man who censured his work.

The first play staged by the project was written by Luiz Paulo and was called Meetings. “He talked about Vidigal’s daily life was beautiful because people identified and became. Our story started there,” he said.

The group’s trajectory also undergoes presentations outside Brazil. The manager of the show and knots of the hill, Tatiana Delfina, now 47, arrived at the project, as a student, at the age of 15. After comings and goings over the years, in 2004, he was invited by Guti Fraga to join the cast of Cia Nodos do Morro in the Assembly of The two gentlemen of Veronaproject carried out in partnership with Royal Shakespeare Company for the Festival The Complete Works in 2006 in England.

CASA DO NOS

The project has already given and Guti founded in Saquarema, Lakes Region, Casa do Nurso, which also has a theater and classes for children. It started 20 years ago in Bacaxá, Saquarema district and resource difficulties moved to the Vilatur neighborhood, where it currently operates.

“It’s a theater, but it’s beautiful. We’ve had important moments. We left with kids talking poetry, hitting people’s homes. One day a lady said ‘I’m thrilled, because she was in such a big loneliness.’ Look how beautiful. The theater has this power.

Funds

The resources for the realization of the Dramatized reading show came to the group through the Art that educates and transforms, included in the term of development due to parliamentary amendment by Deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ), celebrated between the Morro nodes and the National Arts Foundation (Funarte). This is one of the ways that Morro’s we can stay financially, besides the edicts they seek to insert, and to follow the activities in Vidigal.

“We don’t charge anything, even to do classes, nor to watch the shows, so everything is funded from edicts that provide it,” he told Agência Brasil, The executive director of the Morro Nodes and the exhibition’s director general, Marcello Melo, also an actor graduated at school and has been in the group since 2001.

“This is the first time we have been operating with parliamentary amendment. It’s very difficult because there are a lot of demands, but we have to have with us and be able to do. I often say that we on the hill has a lot in our favor. We usually deliver much more than it was agreed.”

Marcello Melo added that during the Covid-19 pandemic for lack of resources, the theater school almost closed.

“We didn’t close because we have some friends. As this structure has grown, it also grew its cost. Today we have a lawyer and accountant and this has not stopped being charged, no matter how much we pay a theoretically symbolic value. When I joined the group’s direction, we had a good time and we are struggling. Come. How many projects are there that can survive for 40 years?

Since taking over in 2018, Tatiana Delfina has been working to get resources for Morro’s knots developing projects in partnership with institutions such as UNESCO and Criança Esperança, Municipal Secretariat of Culture, Unibanco Institute and Itaú Cultural.

“One of the most powerful initiatives was the partnership with Disney, in which we offer editing workshops, script, art direction, makeup and characterization. This experience opened real doors for our students: two students started working on photo productions, music videos and theater; Agência Brasil.

According to Marcello Melo, the school currently has five classes, two adults, one of a child, one of teenager, each with 20 students, and one with neurotypics with 17 students.

“Imagine how many neurotypics live in this community and were silenced and invisible? Opening their eyes to this fact for us has been very satisfactory to have them there. The students are from Vidigal and some from Rocinha [comunidade próxima]”.
