Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader, together with Vice President Raquel Peña, presented the 85 prioritized actions by the Sector Committees of the Initiative Meta RD 2036after discussing more than 1,000 proposals in a rigorous process.
This presentation took place during an expanded session of the Plenary of the National Competitiveness Council.
This advance represents a decisive step for the construction of a shared vision of sustainable and inclusive development for the Dominican Republic By 2036, with the aim of duplicating GDP and improving the welfare of the population.
The President Abinader proposed to organize actions In three groups: immediate measures that can be executed without financing or Legislative approval; Medium term measures that require consensus political and moderate resources; and long -term measures that seek to transform the economy and need significant planning and funds.
The president announced nearby meetings To adapt these actions from the government, define priorities and assign responsibilitiesthus reaffirming its commitment to the economic and social development of the country.
The event was attended by vice ministers and representatives of the National Competitiveness Council, who highlighted the progress in the strategy, based on the report of the Sustainable Development Goals Index (SDG Index) 2025, which positions the Dominican Republic as a regional reference in sustainable development.
The coordinators of the 12 prioritized sectors presented the results of more than 50 work sessions, which allowed to consolidate 490 initiatives, of which 85 were selected as strategic actionss for the next decade.
Meta RD 2036 will continue to be implemented with the accompaniment of the public and private sector, promoting public policiesinnovation and alliances to ensure that the Dominican Republic becomes an inclusive, sustainable and prosperous development model for all.
