After a visit to the headquarters of the National Printing, the Attorney General’s Office (PGN) issued a pronouncement with respect to the Finds found associated with the new inter -administrative agreement with the Portuguese Mint for Passport manufacturing.

According to the document, in the request for fiscal and financial support to acquire commitments for more than 1.3 billion pesos, The control body found that the use of future validity was projected until 2036. This without having the authorization of the confis and a Conpes document, as ordered by the organic statute of the budget.

To the above, it is added that the procedure or calculations to estimate the value of the contract were not presented to the Board of Directors.
“Given the concerns of the control body, for the absence of sessions of the Board of Directors and its corresponding signatures, which had to be held prior to the subscription of the agreement, the National Printing Manager, did not give clear, or satisfactory answers,”said the Attorney General’s Office.
In that context, The PGN said that the findings found would point to improvisation in the conclusion of the agreement, which in turn “It puts at risk the expedition of passports and serious affectations to the rights of Colombians.”

It is important to note that on August 5, the Government published the agreement with the Portuguese Currency House with which the passport expedition will be coordinated together with the National Printing since April 1, 2026 and for the next ten years.
