The Minister of Communications, Fábio Faria, met today (7) with the Israeli minister Yoaz Hendel to discuss infrastructure, implementation and share experiences about the arrival of the fifth generation of mobile internet, 5G, in both countries.
The technical mission also aims to gather information and exchange experiences on cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT). During the visit, the minister stated that he considers Israel a “national startup”, as the country is considered a hub of innovation and a great business incubator. “Israel is known around the world for being a great country of innovation. They invest 4.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP, sum of goods and services produced in the country) in innovation – it is the country that invests the most”, said Faria at the meeting.
During the visit, the ministers also pledged to expand technological cooperation in the telecommunications sector. “They are a world reference and we want to be the center of innovation in Latin America, a great hub [centro] innovation”, said the Brazilian minister.
The Brazilian delegation from the Ministry of Communications will continue with the itinerary of visits tomorrow, when they should visit the facilities of the company Juganu – Brazil’s partner in the Conecta 5G project, which deals with intelligent public lighting networks.
