The text of the Provisional Measure (MP) with actions planned by the Federal Government, in response to the tariff imposed by the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, against products originating in Brazil, will be sent to the Planalto Palace by the Ministry of Finance later (6) on Wednesday (6).
“It will be a very detailed plan to start serving, above all, those who are small and have no alternatives to export to the US. The biggest concern is with the small producer,” said Minister Fernando Haddad when he arrives at the ministry.
Haddad also reported that the plan is ready. It provides for credit granting measures for the companies most impacted by the tariff; and increased government purchases.
“It is ready. Yesterday we seek to understand the order of the president regarding detail. We told him that the company issue per company does not need to be dealt with by law. It may be the subject of regulation. Probably the act of the president will be a provisional measure, to take effect immediately,” he added.

National interest
According to the minister, the measures focus on guaranteeing national sovereignty and the application of the law of Brazilian law relevant to the case, said Haddad in evaluating the attempt of interference from the US government in the Brazilian judiciary as unacceptable.
“The executive is taking care of the national interest,” he said when reiterating a request from a national union involving businessmen and opposition governors, as states are affected.
In this sense, the minister charged the governors who comply with the prerogatives of the position, in order to defend the interests of their states. For Haddad, the same goes for the business community: “They need to call the opposition and ask them to stop disturbing the country,” he said.
“We are the only country in the world that has an internal political force in Washington working against national interest. Is there an Indian doing this? Is there a Chinese doing this? Do you have any Russian doing this? Do you have any European doing this? No. We have to put our finger at this wound once and for all,” he added.

Haddad cited a recent interview of Eduardo Bolsonaroin which the licensed deputy threatens, once again, the powers constituted by Brazill.
“It was a very strong interview, threatening the National Congress,” he said.
“There is also an interview by a leader of the opposition of the Brazilian far right saying that he will do his best to continue disrupting the country. If this is not the news of the day, it is difficult to understand where we go. The country needs to unite to defend the national cause and separate what is the economy, what is political,” added the Minister of Finance.
Marked meeting
Haddad reported that the meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent already has “set date and time.” It will be next Wednesday, the 13th.
“Obviously, depending on the quality of the conversation, it can unfold in a face -to -face working meeting, then with the mood already oriented towards an understanding between the two countries that, we repeat, have a 200 -year relationship.
South America
The Finance Minister assessed that even the initially foreseen taxation of 10%would already be inadequate to South American countries, as their relationships with the US is deficient.
“Another thing that is important is that we are an economic bloc. Brazil cannot be treated differently from Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia. It is an economic bloc, just like the European Union,” he argued.
