After the denouncement of the deputy Luisa Nayar against the Cruceña Mayor’s Office for the allegedly overpriced purchase of Bs 400,000 in 7 awnings to be distributed in diagnostic and vaccination points, the municipal secretary of Health, Roberto Vargas, denied the accusation and affirmed that instead they saved Bs. 65,456 to the municipality.
According to Vargas, the acquisition process began in August 2020, during the administration of former interim mayor Angélica Sosa, and the price was Bs. 89,216 for each awning. However, at the beginning of the new municipal administration, the process was canceled and a new tender was held.
“On July 21 (2021), the southern network begins a new bidding process due to the need to purchase these awnings and is awarded at a lower price than the previous management had quoted. The new price was Bs. 79,859, that is, Bs. 9,357 less than the previous management”Vargas explained.
He assures that, with this purchase, the municipality benefited from more than Bs. 65.00 that was saved in the purchase of the seven awnings which are located mainly in the 9th district, and are used for the Covid-19 vehicular and pedestrian diagnostic points.
Furthermore, he said that “You cannot compare the awnings that were acquired with those that Deputy Nayar showed,” They have a lower cost as they are smaller in size.
“It is really unfortunate to clarify these situations when you see the lack of knowledge,” he added.
Finally, invited the deputy Luisa Nayar to take the awning that she exhibited this morning at his press conference to be armed this Tuesday, March 8 at a diagnostic point.
