Sandra Cuevas, former mayor of Cuauhtémoc (2021-2024), announced for the second time its attempt to create a national political party and Mexico City: Mexico New.
“The people who are going to be a candidate for mayor, municipal president, councilor, federal deputy, local deputy, senator, have to leave the streets.
“This country needs a real change but the real change makes only the people who know how to work and the people who know how to work come from below, to those who had to get here,” Cuevas said at a press conference this August 4.
The former mayor was one of the most vocal policies against Morena, but has also been confronted with the main political parties. After winning in 2021 the mayor of Cuauhtémoc as a flag bearer of PAN, PRI and PRD broke with the opposition alliance after the possibility of competing for the candidacy for the Head of Government was denied and also unchecked from the Citizen Movement (MC), of whom she was a candidate for the Senate in 2024 without achieving the position.
His priority for 2027 will be to win two mayorships, Azcapotzalco and Cuauhtémoc, he said. “We are going to recover the Mayor’s Office Cuauhtémoc because the disaster they have right now,” he said in a direct criticism of La Vega.
The rivalry is both policies, since the current mayor told Cuevas of having had Ricardo Monreal as a “political godfather” and having tried to negotiate impunity in exchange for compromising information about the current senator. “I prefer to lose than agree with criminals,” said Rojo de la Vega.

For 2030 elections, Cuevas said it will seek to govern Mexico City.
“By 2030 if God allows me, if we arrive, if we have strength, if people follow us and this works I will be looking for the Head of Government,” he said.
