The Secretary General of Copei, Juan Carlos Alvarado, proposed from the Green To awning a large coalition of opposition parties to the Government of Venezuela, which is composed of political groups that won mayors, councils and governments in the last regional, municipal and parliamentary elections in the South American country.
“We will consider making a proposal to build a coalition that represents the entire democratic alternative of our Venezuela, it will be a complex process (…) but the process of participation and the electoral route will always be the most difficult path (…) but in the end if you can reach and can materialize,” he said Tuesday at a press conference.
In this sense, Alvarado rejected the alleged plan of “clandestinity” of the ultra -rightist María Machado, remembering the importance of reorganizing an opposition that respects the Venezuelan Constitution and believes on the electoral route. «Hiding that calls you to be separating from the Constitution and laws. We do not believe in that, ”he added.
He called the Venezuelan people to ignore Machado’s messages because, in her opinion, she “the only thing that cares is the international community, does not care about the problem in the country, (she) does not care if she is reaching her or not, she does not care if she has problems with the distribution of drinking water, nothing cares.”
For his part, Bernabé Gutiérrez, general secretary of the AD party, said that Machado persists on a route that has already caused too much pain to the Venezuelan people.
«His proposal is not a change, it is barbarism. It is not a future, it is tragedy, because when the blood runs, it is not hers or that of their luxury operators, it is the young people of the town who end up paying with jail, tears or death, and then, as it has already happened, they abandon them to their fate, condemned to oblivion, ”he warned via a press release.
On the other hand, the secretary general of COPEI believes that it is time to group all the opposition forces of the country, but with an approach that elapses the electoral situation.
“The country needs proposals, projects (…) That is why this urgent call of those who oppose the government party, to find ourselves at the points that have to do with the construction of a country model, a state model and public policies,” Alvarado remarked.
This Monday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stood out during his program with Maduro+ number 87 that the Alternative opposition is taking the constitutional and democratic path With its own leadership, “he won 50 important mayors, also powerful in the country.”
In this regard, President Maduro extended an invitation to the country’s democratic opposition to participate in the construction of a political and social life in peace for all Venezuelans.
“We have the obligation to build a stable country, the opposition has its form of expression, its audience and its people,” he said, while specifying that, at times, the opposition’s agenda has been covered by extremist sectors, marking key moments in history.
He stressed that today democracy is not measured only in votes, but in shared action. «The old – bureaucratism, indolence, wait – no longer takes place. Governing with the people is not a slogan: it is the only possible way. And that democracy – as Chávez dreamed – is already being built: with young faces, with workers’ hands, with awake communities (…) each official we say: no more distances. No more excuses. No more unproductive verticalism. This town is ready to exercise power. The State must be up to technical efficiency and human sensitivity. With respect. Listening. Humbly”.
Maduro also expressed his hope that the new generation of Venezuelan opposition, arising in recent national elections, can perform their responsibilities with the people and contribute to the country’s progress.
