Maduro: The peace we have is a conquest and you have to take care of it

«This town no longer wants guarimbas, does not want more violence, does not want more conspiracy. So I think that being August 4 today it is very important to become aware that the peace we have is a conquest. You have to take care of it and you have to continue building it because the world is crazy, ”said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro on Monday.

Such a statement was made by the Head of State during the Digital Zone segment, in his program number 87 of Maduro +, where he stressed that on July 28, 2024 the presidential election was held under threats by the extreme right. «They were going to leave Venezuela without electricity at noon on July 28 and on the night of July 28 they attacked all the country’s computer systems and destroyed the computer system of the National Electoral Council, among other things. They already know what we spent 29 and 30 and the control we did of these violent groups ».

“So that there were elections of the National Assembly and Governments on May 25, you do not know what we did, what we were happening, the attempts that had to destroy electrical systems, to attack key places of the country, even now to be in peace and calm the elections of July 27, the same, so we have given a great battle,” he revealed.

On the other hand, Maduro stressed that indigenous elections have been held with 92.97%participation. «Everything developed in complete peace. We have achieved elections without violence, without destabilization plans ».

Maduro detailed the multiple electoral events that have been held in Venezuela in recent years successfully, in front of blockages, invasion attempts and violence attacks. “These municipal elections gave us great responsibility for the present times and the construction of the new community state model.”

The dignitary said that with the elections of this July 27 the electoral cycle closes, as the Constitution sends, «in peace, with participation and with a resounding popular victory. In a year we made seven elections, all in democracy, all with clear results. Today we have a country standing, with all its renewed institutions and a collective work plan called 7T. It is the plan of the people, and also of the President Pueblo ».

Constitutional and democratic path

Maduro stressed that the alternative opposition is taking the constitutional and democratic path with own leadership, “he won 50 important mayors, also powerful in the country.”

“This is the number 33 and the 33 have won 31 elections,” he said.

In this regard, President Maduro extended an invitation to the country’s democratic opposition to participate in the construction of a political and social life in peace for all Venezuelans.

“We have the obligation to build a stable country, the opposition has its form of expression, its audience and its people,” he said, while specifying that, at times, the opposition’s agenda has been covered by extremist sectors, marking key moments in history.

He stressed that today democracy is not measured only in votes, but in shared action. «The old – bureaucratism, indolence, wait – no longer takes place. Governing with the people is not a slogan: it is the only possible way. And that democracy – as Chávez dreamed – is already being built: with young faces, with workers’ hands, with awake communities (…) each official we say: no more distances. No more excuses. No more unproductive verticalism. This town is ready to exercise power. The State must be up to technical efficiency and human sensitivity. With respect. Listening. Humbly”.
