In her work tour of the municipality of Totolapan, the state president commented that she is concerned about the situation of Nissan’s workers in Puebla, so the most important thing for her government is what will happen with these employees.
The governor mentioned that her administration is willing to support the company in whatever is necessary to avoid closing in March 2026, as part of its global restructuring strategy.
After meeting with a special commission of the Independent Union of Workers of Nissan Mexico and its legal representatives, the governor commented that workers will have an official table with the company before the Federal Board of Conciliation and Arbitration and will be accompanied by state government authorities.
Nissan confirmed that he will transfer his operations of the Civac plant, in Morelos, to his Complex of Aguascalientes, as part of a global restructuring called Renissan. This will happen from 2026.
Although the company’s workers were already notified of the end of operations, there is still uncertainty about what will happen with employees. The workers of the automotive plant will remain in operation until the end of 2025.
It is estimated that Nissan closes its facilities in four countries as part of its restructuring and cost reduction. They will be two in Mexico, India, Argentina and South Africa.
This is due that the Japanese company faces falls in sales and global profitability for the competition of the electric vehicle sector.
