Bread sees "risk" In Sheinbaum electoral reform

“The country does not need an electoral reform to benefit a party or tilting the balance towards those who think only in a way to a society, Mexico is a diversity of opinions, a reform is needed that strengthens democracy. Do you plan to summon more voices, including the opposition, or will they be the first to impose new rules to their measure?” Romero Herrera questioned.

The PAN mentioned that, if a reform is approved without agreement with all political forces, the elections, the representation of society in public positions and the political stability of Mexico will be put at risk.

“We say it clearly: we will not allow the electoral institutions to be weakened or even the register is manipulated. If Morena believes that an electoral reform is necessary, that she convenes experts, to listen to citizens and build consensus with the opposition. If not, they will have us in front,” he said.

He also called on civil society to remain vigilant and participate in the debate for the formation of this reform.

“In National Action we believe that the rules of the electoral game must guarantee the balance for all. Mexico does not need a reform by way, it needs a strong democracy, where citizens always have the last word,” he said.

This Saturday, August 2, the president formed the Presidential Commission for Electoral Reform, which will be headed by Pablo Gómez Álvarez. This will be responsible for making a “deep diagnosis” of the state in which the electoral model and parties are currently located.

It will also be responsible for making a project to reform various electoral laws that “is consistent with current times.”

This commission will have more members, but the federal president will later announce them. They will work in coordination with legislators, academics, experts in the subject, organizations and citizenship.

Pablo Gómez left the ownership of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), which is part of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.
