Peru It was recognized by the prestigious British newspaper The Telegraph As one of the ten best countries in the world to visit, according to its annual Telegraph Travel Awards 2024.
More than 20,000 medium readers voted from their travel experiences, taking into account aspects such as local culture, sustainability, gastronomy, security and tourist innovation.
The Telegraph points out that this category is “one of the most disputed” since its creation in 1998, and that only five countries have achieved first place over the years.
Machu Picchu, El Colca and Lima are the most visited destinations
Readers of the British medium highlight Peru as “a splendid place in South America that always appears on the holiday desire list.”
Machu Picchu continues to be a magnet for travelers, but it is not the only one. The newspaper also mentioned the Colca Canyon, as well as the capital, Lima, considered “a city full of gastronomy and charm.”
The media also highlighted the restart of direct flights between London and Lima in December 2023, which has facilitated access to the country.
