“It is not the same to dominate a conventional ball as one of Baseball Five, which is smaller, faster,” said the former soccer player.
Arequipa, Peru – Cuban former soccer player Erick Hernández, world recordist and Guinness in the specialty of the ball domain, won another mark on Sunday by dominating his head a Baseball Five ball at the Copacabana hotel.
A state report Cuban News Agency It indicates that Hernández got 4,626 touches in 35 minutes, a unique challenge because the ball used has a much smaller surface than that of a football ball, which significantly elevates the technical difficulty and the required precision.
“It is a completely different experience; it demands an absolute approach because any minimum detour can make you lose control of the spherical,” said the former soccer player.
Before starting the challenge, Hernández admitted to feeling great expectation for being a record so different from the usual ones. The event began at 10:00 am with the presence of judges and public.
“I was imposed respect from the first day of training; it is not the same to dominate a conventional ball as one of Baseball Five, which is smaller, faster and less predictable in its rebound. In addition the position of the neck is more inclined, which is more unreashed,” said the recurler.
Hernández dedicated his third achievement of 2025 to the Baseball Five players of Cuba and announced that he will soon seek to adapt this novel practice to the sitting position, a variant that he considers “extremely demanding for wear in the lumbar area”.
The most immediate thing will be the attempt again of the largest amount of touches to a football ball for a minute, proof that will repeat to collect the greatest amount of tests with the aim that Guinness magazine is approved.
The Cuban first entered the Guinness book of records in 2005, for touching the ball with his head 319 times for a minute. Since then, he has established several brands and apparently the passage of time does not stop it.
“I remain active with almost 60 years, because I have had a very methodical life, maintaining a balanced diet and respecting the work-disagreement relationship (…) to my followers, I tell you that they have a lot of faith and confidence that I will achieve this record. Thanks to them I have maintained motivation,” said Hernández last October.
