This August 2, the human rights defender of the Kennedy Tejeda Criminal Forum celebrates a detainee year. He was one of those arrested within the framework of the post -election repression that was unleashed after the presidential elections of July 28, 2024, in which the National Electoral Council proclaimed Nicolás Maduro as a winner without until now to publish the disaggregated results.

The arrest of the lawyer occurred after going to the RuralBán Rural Command Detention Center, in the Carabobo state, to confirm the arrest of community protesters and offer free legal assistance.
In December 2024, Tejeda’s relatives denounced that he was being tortured in the Tocorón prison (Aragua). Before, it had been held at the headquarters of the National Anti -crushing Command (Conas), in Valencia, Carabobo state.
In that same month, the Inter -American Commission on Human Rights included it in the list of expansion of precautionary measures in favor of members of the Criminal Forum organization. In the document, they demanded that the Venezuelan State adopt the necessary measures to protect their rights to life and personal integrity, current legal situation and allowing their relatives and legal representatives of their confidence to have communication with him.
Prova denounced on July 27 that, currently, there are at least five imprisoned defenders “unfairly.” In addition to Tejeda, there are Eduardo Torres, who also attended political prisoners; Javier Tarazona, who denounced the presence of irregular armed groups in border states; Rocío San Miguel, expert on military issues, and Carlos Julio Rojas, journalist and neighborhood activist of Caracas.
