In a new chapter of Argentine economic policy, the National Government formalized by decree 526/2025 the reduction of retention to agribusiness exports, a measure previously announced by the President Javier Milei during the inauguration of the Rural Exhibition of Palermo.
This decision, which will enter into force as of Friday, represents a firm step in the official strategy of overburys, tax simplification and stimulus to foreign trade. The initiative, signed by Javier Milei Together with the Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos, and the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, establishes a permanent reduction in export rights (DEX) for key products of the agricultural sector.
Among the main changes, the following aliquots stand out: corn and sorghum: they fall from 12% to 9.5%. Sunflower complex: the grain taxes 5.5%(before 7%) and its derivatives 4%. Soy: the grain goes from 33% to 26%, and by -products from 31% to 24.5%. Vaccine and aviar meat: 6.75% to 5% is reduced. Wheat and barley: They maintain 9.5% dex.
The decree also includes adjustments for other agroindustrial products, such as live animals, spoils, skins, bovine semen, wheat flour and corn, malt and sausages, with aliquots that range between 2.25% and 7%.

Unlike the temporary reduction that governed between January and June of this year, this new provision does not require accelerated currency liquidation, which gives greater flexibility to exporters. From the Executive Power it is argued that export rights are a “distortive tax” that must be gradually eliminated, provided that the fiscal surplus allows it.
In the words of the president Milei“Eliminating withholdings is an obsession for our management”, and this measure seeks to “provide greater competitiveness to one of the most dynamic and relevant productive sectors in the country.”
Official data
Official data valued by Javier Milei They support this decision: in 2024, exported volumes of agro -industrial products grew 56% and the value of exports increased by 26%. In June, the tonnage sold outside wheat rose 29%, sunflower 26%, and corn and soybean oil 4%.
In addition, the agroindustrial sector generates exports for approximately USD 48,000 million annually, of which 75% comes from grain and meat chains. The measure was held by representatives of the field, who see in this reduction a recognition of the strategic role of the sector in the generation of currency, employment and regional development.
