Supreme Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes compared the performance of Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro in the United States to the attempt of coup d’état on January 8, 2023. The opening session on Friday morning was marked by the first joint demonstration of court ministers after the government of US President Donald Trump announced Financial sanctions against Moraes and formalize Application of 50% tariffs to several products that Brazil sells with the US country.
As soon as the tariffs against Brazil were announced by Trump in early July, Eduardo Bolsonaro thanked the US president. In a letter sent to the Brazilian government, at the time, Trump associated the application of tariffs with the process to which Jair Bolsonaro responds for attempted coup.
Besides Moraes, the president of the Court, Luís Roberto Barroso, also spoke. Others to speak were Minister Gilmar Mendes; the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet; and the attorney general of the Union, Jorge Messias.

Without citing names, the minister also stated that the performance of people linked to Jair Bolsonaro seeks a “tyrannical filing to benefit certain people who are above the constitution, law and institutions.”
In March this year, Eduardo asked for a parliamentary mandate license and moved in the United States on the grounds of political persecution. The license ended on the 20th.
Despite the great repercussion, the application of financial sanctions against Alexandre de Moraes should not have the expected impact by the Trump government and allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
