Bolívar devalates 13.11% against the dollar in the official market

The dollar, used to set prices and make payments, began with a price of 108.97 bolivars in the official market, which means that, since then, it recorded an increase of 15.1 %.

The Bolívar, the Venezuelan currency, was devalued in July 13.11% against the dollar in the official market, where the US currency closed the month in 125.42 bolivars, as reported on Thursday the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).

The dollar, used to set prices and make payments, began with a price of 108.97 bolivars in the official market, which means that, since then, it recorded an increase of 15.1 %.

A note published by EFE, said that in the first half of the year, the Bolívar devalued 51.4 % against the dollar, whose price in the official market doubled in that period, going from 52.57 bolivars to 108,18, according to the contributions published by the BCV.

In June, the attorney general, Tarek William Saab, indicated that 58 people allegedly linked to the ‘parallel’ price of the dollar, a rate that the official exceeds, while being taken out “of circulation 12 illegal pages” that, according to the official, manipulated the change rate, in order to “destabilize” the economy.

Experts say that the increase in the dollar is one of the main causes of the increase in goods and services, set, mostly, based on the American currency.

The BCV does not publish inflation figures since October 2024, when the country began to face episodes of devaluation of its currency against the dollar.

In addition to the impact on inflation, the increase in the price of the dollar also has effects on the purchasing capacity of workers, above all, of those who charge their salaries in bolivars, such as those who work in the public sector.
