Dina Boluarte rejects a request for cutting-IDH: "We are not a colony of anyone"

Within the framework of the graduation ceremony of 670 new noncommissioned officers of the National Police of Peru, the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarterejected, strongly the request of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Corte-IDH) formulated to the Peruvian State to suspend the process of the law granted by Amnesty to military and police without a final sentence for cases linked to the fight against terrorism.

In her speech, the president said that “Peru is free of independent, with sovereign autonomy, and that must be very clear.”

“We are not a colony of anyone and we will not allow the intervention of the Inter -American Court that aims to suspend a bill that seeks justice for members of our Armed Forces, our National Police and the self -defense committees who fought to risk their lives against the insanity of terrorism, against those who just wanted Sovereign, autonomous, free and fair for a country that yearns for peace, unity, stability, trust and fraternity, “he said.

In that line, Boluarte said that the Government will continue to strengthen the National Police in the fight for security. “The Armed Forces, the National Police, the national organizations that exercised from that December 7, 2022 the defense of the Peruvian State and the society against those who declared war, will always have the support of our government, of the citizens of firm democratic convictions,” he continued.

Boluarte stressed, at another time, that the police “are children of the people”, and in a democratic country “we must meet the needs of the people, we cannot walk back to him,” he said.

“Our goal is to achieve integral development guaranteeing the future of children, youth and adolescents, and that development goes hand in hand with justice and our police, our armed forces and our self -defense committees that deserve justice, they deserve respect,” he said.

He said that the 670 noncommissioned officers who graduated this morning, and make up the “honorable” promotion, are part of a group of 4,517 men and women police who will do the same in the next few days in the different schools of the country “to continue adding forces against crime and crime.”

They expressed their government’s commitment and announced that during this year more than 31,000 7,300 rifles, 1,400 vehicles and 4,700 police protection equipment are being acquired, and anticipated that in 2026 “we will deliver the modern school of Chorrillos officers as well as a modern police criminal laboratory”, among others.

“It’s an illegal interference”

On the subject, the first vice president of the Congress, Fernando Rospigliosi, who shown according to the government’s position regarding the request of the IDH Court and warned that this “exceeds the powers of that agency and the provisions of the Inter -American Convention on Human Rights” was also spoken.

“I must express my agreement with what Mrs. Dina Bolvarte has raised as well as with the statement that the Ministry of Justice took a couple of days ago in the same direction. An illegitimate and illegal interference of this body cannot be allowed, pretending to dictate to the Congress of the Republic and the Government of Peru the things that can and cannot do. That must be completely rejected,” he said.

In that line, Rospigliosi – who presided over the Constitution Commission that ruled the project in question in the last legislature – commented that it is “indispensable that the law be promulgated as soon as possible.”

“There are many military, police and self -defense committees who are being illegally persecuted or some prisoners in a totally unfair way. They are usually people of great age and that is why the promulgation of this law is urgent, as well as it is also urgent that the Constitutional Court give its verdict on the law of humanity, which is not being applied by the judicial system,” he said.
