Cases of respiratory viruses and influenza A are falling in Brazil

The new Oswaldo Cruz Foundation Weekly Weekly Bulletin (Fiocruz), released on Thursday (31), points out that The number of cases of respiratory sincial viruses (VSR) and influenza is falling in most states of the country.Cases of respiratory viruses and influenza A are falling in Brazil

However, the newsletter also shows an increase in the number of cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) in young children associated with the Respiratory Sincitial Virus (VSR) in the states of Amazonas, Roraima and Rio Grande do Norte, as well as a resumption of growth in Rio Grande do Sul. In the national scenario, the cases associated with VSR and influenza remain falling in most of the country.

The Fiocruz Bulletin shows that SRAG cases nationally have a drop in short and long -term trends. This scenario reflects the fall in hospitalizations by influenza A and VSR in most of the country. Regarding COVID-19, the serious cases are down.

Nevertheless, in Ceará the scenario is different, as there was an increase in the number of SRAG cases.

Infogipe researcher Tatiana Portella evaluates that, even with the downward trend, there is still a high number of Srag cases in children and the elderly in recent weeks.

“It is therefore important that all people are up to date with covid-19 and influenza vaccination, as this is the main form of prevention against serious cases,” he recommends.

In this update, only 2 of the 27 capitals have a level of alert, risk or high risk in the last two weeks: Campo Grande (MS) and Vitoria (ES).

Among the deaths, the presence of these same viruses was 57.6% influenza A, 2.6% influenza B, 17.7% respiratory viruses, 15.3% rhinoviruses and 6.4% SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19).
