The former Sidor Juan Antonio Valo, 66, was intercepted on January 9, 2025 when he left his home in San Félix, Bolívar state, by armed men aboard a white and plaques without plates. Relatives of former Sidor Union Director Juan Antonio Value demanded that the authorities provide medical care and be released immediately, due to the serious health problems he currently suffers in prison.

«From January 9 my family and I devastated by the situation. My father is an older man who suffers from arterial hypertension and at this time he has half of his paralyzed face. We have requested medical assistance, which has been denied, ”said Damaris Value, daughter of the political prisoner, in A video Posted by Prova.

Juan Valo, 66, was intercepted on January 9, 2025 when he left his home in San Félix, Bolívar state, by armed men aboard a white and plaque truck. Two days later, his family managed to confirm that he was arrested at the headquarters of the National Anti -Extortion and Kidnapping (Conas) Command of the National Guard in Puerto Ordaz.

The political prisoner was charged with the crimes of terrorism, incitement to hatred and resistance to authority. In the preliminary hearing, the prosecutor of the case requested that he be sentenced to 25 years in prison. The family indicated that, like other detainees, a public defender was imposed and have not been able to have full access to the file.

“In an innocent man of what he is being accused,” insisted Damaris Value, who also asked the Public Ministry to review his file and be released. He also called on the president of Sidor, Sandi Villarroel and the governor of the state Bolívar, Yulisbeth García, to intercede for his freedom.

Prova also indicated that the family can barely see it five minutes on Saturdays. The NGO said the trade unionist entered Sidor in 1976 through a scholarship that allowed him to study mechanics. In 1993 he was fired for a year for his union work in defense of workers.

Currently, Juan Antonio Valo is vice president of the Bolivar State Boxing Association, judge and referee federated nationwide. “In addition, he has been a fighter for the social causes of his community.”
