The Venezuelan government on Tuesday accused the Trump administration of keeping 33 boys and girls separated from their families, while demanding the immediate release of minors.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil, on his Telegram channel, informed that such a procedure is “in open violation of international law, rights and even their own laws”, referring to US norms.
Gil argues that it is “a criminal, inhuman and outlaven practice, improper of a State that aims to erect in defender of freedoms while trampling the most elementary rights of childhood.”
He stressed that “John McNamara, head of the US business in Colombia, is the material author of this crime, directly responsible for maintaining this illegal and deeply immoral situation.”
In this regard, he demanded «the immediate and without all conditions of everyone. They must meet with their families ».
It should be noted that with the beginning of the repatrices of the nationals, the cases of minors who are being separated from their families in the United States and taken to households with “substitute families” and retention centers, despite the fact that fathers and mothers have wanted to return with their children.
