The attraction of IED In the sector, 24 parks or centrals of Electric generationwith a concessioned capacity of about 2,300 megawatts and investments for 3,387 million dollars.
However, although a large part of the works that rise belong to foreign capital, the activity has also seduced local entrepreneurs, whose investments total at least 1,087.1 million dollars, equivalent to 32.1 % of the total.
The renewable sources (Sun, wind and urban solid waste) are main responsible for the expansion recorded by the sector, with 21 projects in executionwhile the remaining three correspond to thermal units (natural gas and fuel oil), according to data from the National Energy Commission (CNE).
Distribution by Provinces
Although the works are disseminated by the territory, two Provinces: Santo Domingo and Peraviathe majority concentrate, with five each, while the other 14 are distributed among nine demarcations.
In Santo Domingothe five projects that are built total 674.2 million dollars in investment, four of which will have as a source of generation the sunlight and one natural gas, the latter located in the municipality of Boca Chica and for which a cost of 330 million dollars is projected.
In Peraviafive solar parks are built, which total 413.5 million dollars, representing between the two demarcations investments in Electric generation for 1,087.7 million dollars.

The Dominican State has been with Law 57-07 for renewable energies and special regimes, prepared with the purpose of stimulating private investment projects in the sector, and which includes, among other benefits, the exemption of 100 % import taxes to the equipment, machinery and accessories necessary for the production of energy from unconventional sources.

Countries of origin
Of the total construction works, at least 13 belong to foreign capitaldistributed among 11 companies.
