You Governors of the Northeast Consortium will meet with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Brasilia to discuss the tariff of Brazilian exports announced by the US. According to the consortium, Given the announcement, an “emergency” articulation was initiated with Apexbrasil and the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), with the aim of protecting the productive sectors of the region and avoiding damage to economics and employment in the northeastern states.

You Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday (5) and Wednesday (6) next week after the deadline given by the US government to impose the taxation of 50% on all Brazilian exports, on Friday (1st).
According to the articulation of the northeastern governors, US tariffs directly affect strategic productive chains of the region, such as fruiting, beekeeping, textile sector, footwear, metallmechnical and automotive industry.
“The Northeast will not passively watch the impact of these measures. We are adding forces with Apexbrasil and MDIC to ensure the protection of our jobs, our companies and our productive capacity,” said Northeast Consortium President Rafael Fonteles.
The articulation reported that it is conducting a technical mapping of impacts by state and by sector, estimating economic losses and identifying companies and products affected. The proposal is to articulate new markets, reinforce the capillarity of exports and connect northeastern products to new international routes.
According to the agenda released by the consortium, on Tuesday morning, the governors will attend the meeting of the Sustainable Social Economic Development Council (CDDES), the council, where President Lula will discuss the impact of American tariffs.
Following, in the afternoon, the General Assembly of the Northeast Consortium will be held. Already On Wednesday, there will be a meeting at the Planalto Palace with President Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann.
