It was supposed to be just a football match for the ninth round of the Mexican Championship, at La Corregidora de Querétaro stadium, this Saturday (5). The home team was losing to Atlas, when, in the 18th minute of the second half, a general fight started in the stands between the fans. The violence did not stop and the field was invaded, interrupting the match.
The confusion left 22 injured, according to the region’s Civil Protection Coordination, two of them in serious condition.
On the internet, images of beatings circulate. Even unconscious and without any reaction, two men continued being beaten with kicks and clubs. The attackers even left the victims naked.
Due to the barbarism, the president of the Mexican Football League (LMX), Mikel Arriola, suspended all the games of the round and does not rule out a severe punishment for the clubs (Queretáro and Atlas), such as their disaffiliation. However, the official explains that the case will be evaluated by a disciplinary committee before any sanction.
Derived from the records recorded this Saturday afternoon at the Corregidora Stadium, the CEPC informs that until this moment there is no report of deceased persons, 22 injured persons, 9 of them transferred to the General Hospital and of these, of those of gravedad .
