A desperate mother travels through Havana in search of her disappeared daughter four months ago

Havana/A Cuban travels the streets of Havana with a poster hanging around the neck, imploring help to find his disappeared daughter for more than four months. Since last March, every trace of Doraiky Águila Vázquez was lost and, while time runs, family anguish grows. “Looking at the phone is already part of my life, accompanied by pain and much anguish,” wrote Maura Vázquez, mother of the teacher, in a recent message posted on her Facebook profile, where she also appreciates the solidarity received.

“I have been able to listen to the people’s criteria … I could see a town (at least the ones I have found) that already demands greater action to find Doraiky, that everyone is willing to support,” The woman explainswho expects more implications from the police authorities in the search for their 48 -year -old daughter.

One of the most moving testimonies that the old woman has heard came from a former eagle student, who approached in tears to remind her of her delivery: “I was a student of her daughter, she taught me a lot of right … the right she taught so much, nor the values she always demonstrated as a human being,” the young woman questioned the young inertia.

The young woman also recalled how Eagle, attentive to her students, even helped with material details: “On one occasion she noticed that a student did not go home for not having money, and she immediately bought the passage, she shared the soap with the provincial students.” The student is clear in her recommendation to Vázquez: “Mom, shout at the four winds, that Doraiky deserves that the best techniques, the best professionals and that the country’s direction finds out and participate, insisted.

Águila disappeared on March 15 during a blackout, when it was traveling along the road on October ten, in Havana. He wore a yellow dress with red or pink flowers and suffered episodes of transient memory loss, the family explained. Since then, there have been no solid clues of his whereabouts. The police complaint is registered with the number 19434, and family members have offered a reward of 350,000 Cuban pesos to whom it provides information that allows it to find it.

The image of the missing teacher circulates on social networks, in informal messaging channels and has been shared by organizations such as I believe you in Cuba and tense wings. The case has been reviewed by several independent media and frequently cited as an example of the growing number of unresolved disappearances on the island.

The passage of the days has transformed the tone of family messages. Since June, Maura directly holds the State directly for the lack of results. “My mood is critical … I no longer ask, I do not beg, I do not imply; I hold the Cuban government on the search process,” he wrote. He denounces that the necessary resources have not been mobilized, despite existing bodies organized and prepared for tracking actions. It also emphasizes that no state authority has offered information about the progress of investigations.

Meanwhile, the only certainty remains the absence. “Having my great daughter in photos only causes them not to stop tears,” says the mother. The search continues, in the absence of official responses, sustained by the faith of a family and the solidarity echo of those who, without knowing Doraiky Águila, believe that their case deserves more attention and justice.
